Ceremonial Grade Uji Matcha 50g

Price range: $55.00 through $95.00

Description

Product Code: RM01
Grade: Ceremonial
Harvest Period: Ichibancha – 1st Flush

Origin: Uji – Single Origin
Uji is the matcha capital of the world known for highest grade matcha made from the youngest tea leaves. It adheres to strict cultivation & processing standards. Unlike other regions, harvest is limited to once a year resulting in a limited production quantity.

Cultivar: Asahi
Originally selected from Uji seed grown plants (zairai) on Hirano Jinojo’s farm in 1953. The leaves grow thin & wide making it perfect for tencha with a bright green color & a creamy flavor profile. The crop yield is low & the best timing for picking is short, making it a relatively more expensive cultivar. Asahi is perhaps the most highly valued cultivar for matcha & is often used by farmers submitting their tencha leaves to competitions.

Taste Notes:
Deep umami richness, creamy, no bitterness, full bodied, vanilla sweetness & vibrant green colour

Best For:
Tea Ceremonies, Usucha, Koicha, Clear/Pure, Extra Premium Latte

Recommended Brewing Proportions:

Koicha or thick viscous matcha with a paste-like consistency. It is typically served at formal tea ceremonies and shared amongst guests. Great for when you want to savour the full richness of matcha but could be rather strong taken on its own.
Typical Matcha:Water ratio: 4g:30ml
Best served hot 70-80°C

For a treat, we recommend Koicha served over ice cream (Matcha Affogato) or over chilled milk (Dirty Matcha).

Usucha or thin matcha is the tea more commonly served at Japanese tea ceremonies. It is typically served to guests at the end of a meal and with a sweet to balance any bitterness of the tea. Great for enjoying matcha with a light, smooth taste.
Typical Matcha:Water ratio: 2g:45-60ml
Best served hot 70-80°C

Clear Matcha or very mild matcha with the same nutrients in a cup. We recommend this drink for a fine balance of rich taste, aroma and colour which can be enjoyed longer than an usucha.
Typical Matcha:Water ratio: 2.5g:150ml
Serve Hot 70-80°C or over ice
